Go ahead – throw a coin in that fountain. Have a gelato at Tre Scalini on Piazza Navona. What other must-do things haven’t we done? Did you buy your fake Gucci bag?
Tonight we’ll go to a movie theater that is right across the river from where we started the first night in Rome – at the Eden Film Center on Via Cola di Rienzo. It’s a theater that I can usually count on to play the really obscure films – if it’s only playing on one screen it’s probably the Eden.
The area around the Eden is another one of my favorite shopping destinations. It seems like rich tourists shop on Via Condotti, but normal Romans shop on Via Cola di Rienzo. It’s got Diesel, Stefanel, Onix, Miss Sixty and lots of other fun stores – so get yourself a souvenir that you really want and then meet us at the Eden.
Tonight, our last night in Rome, we’re going with a little fluff – we’re seeing Dillo Con Parole Mie (Ginger and Cinnamon) -click HERE to queue it up for instant viewing and HERE to read my review. It’s got a silly but fun song and dance number with a Mina song, “Ta Ra Ta Ta”.
Let’s have dinner at another place I like near Piazza del Popolo, Ristorante Settimio All’arancio. Lauren and I had a fun dinner there years ago. The tables are so close together and we were talking to a table of middle-aged guys beside us that were getting a little hammered. One of them told us that it was kind of a big week for his buddy (the one sitting right beside me) because he’d been nominated for a Nobel prize. We figured that this was either the most esoteric pick up line ever or it was a very cool experience for us – we went with cool experience. Anyhow, we googled him when we got home and it was true. Moral of the story – get to know your neighbors at Roman restaurants because you never know who you might meet.
I hope you’ve enjoyed our pretend film festival in Rome – arrivederci and “Ta ra ta ta”!
