In an independent section of the Venice Film Festival, Giornate degli Autori, promoted by the Italian Association of Filmmakers ANAC and 100 Autori, 10 films will be presented this year. One, the above 7 minute short from Italian filmmaker Giada Colagrande, is called A Woman Dress and features actress Maya Sansa. It’s the third of the Miu Miu Womens’ Tales series.
Female directors with a diverse range of cinematic points of view interpret the brand from a woman’s perspective, through a series of shorts that began in 2010. Debuted during New York fashion week last night, this film, titled ‘The Woman Dress’, is named so because it literally features a woman being transformed into a dress. The surreal narrative, accompanied by a haunting soundtrack from girl trio Au Revoir Simone, transports the viewer to a dark room in which three witches preside over a bathtub bubbling over with potion. The witches coax their visitor (Sansa) into the bathtub, where they ceremoniously transform her into a Miu Miu lace dress from the S/S 2012 collection.
Miu Miu is a high fashion brand of women’s clothing and accessories from the Prada fashion house.
