Don’t Mess With This Rebellious Spirit
Journalist Sara Faillaci had once showed up unannounced and without an appointment at Alba Rohrwacher’s mom’s farm house in Umbria looking to find out if the Rohrwachers were anything like the family in Le Meraviglie (The Wonders), so when she met Alba for a scheduled interview at Venice last year, the actress was not in the best of moods.
“You’re the one that went to my house”, Rohwacher asked Faillaci.
“Is it true that you showed up there without any warning?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.
“When I found out about that I was pretty mad.”
But in the end, Alba admitted liking the interview she’d done with her mom, and said that her home life had been well described, so she didn’t storm out.
Failaci asked Rohrwacher asked about her relationship with her sister, Alice, the director, and her parents: “I was always a rebellious spirit, and I wasn’t looking for shortcuts. I dealt with them in a direct, almost violent way. My sister Alice was more likely to go along, but sooner or later the chickens come home to roost. The clashes that I had as a teenager, she had them later.
